I whole heartedly believe in the power of prayer. Isabelle has been sick for a week now with a stomach bug and now double ear infections on top of that. It breaks my heart every time she gets sick. The little trooper is happy and playing most of the time but obviously something's up. She's on an antibiotic so hopefully that will take affect soon...
Okay... it's been a while. Okay... it's been a LONG while. I decided I needed to update everyone on what's been going on seen my last post over a year ago. First, Sprigler.com has been denied by the NAFC School Corp so that limits my access. It's just easier to do it at work.
Then of course we got pregnant, I was put on bedrest after a miscarriage scare, and later after the grace of God gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Isabelle Grace.

Emma is a proud big sis and a big Mommy's helper... most of the time...

So fast forward... not much of interest until Emma's trip to the hospital. Emma had a sinus infection and possibly something else as well. Her meds made her sick and she wouldn't take medicine, kept getting a fever, and didn't really want to eat or drink. So after another visit to the doctor we were sent to the hospital. She was admitted as an outpatient and giving IV fluids and antibiotic. Total she was there 24 hours. It was a bit tramatic for everyone. Emma was so dehydrated they had to get a professional to insert her IV and they denied her request for chicken nuggets... that is until Dr. Fisher saved the day and Uncle Steven's chicken nuggets were finally eaten (with ketchup of course).
Since Zach and I wanted to stay with Emma and were worried about what Isabelle might catch at the hospital, she was shipped of to Grandma Betty's house. It was Isabelle's first night away from Mommy. Luckily she was only about 10 minutes away and she did great. Everyone was glad to get back home.
So now school has started. Things are going well so far. Some time later this year I will get to move into my new room at school. Our building is under construction and the FL and Math classrooms should be done in the Spring. I am excited about some new leadership opportunites at church. I decided (after promptings and a lot of prayer) to take a more active role in the women's ministry at Northside. All that should start later next month.
So that's all for now... but one last pic...

So... here's hoping it's not a year from now until I post again...
Well... today is the big day. Emma is 2... and I'm 30. This will be more like Birthday month. We're doing dinner tonight and Emma's party is Sunday. Then the Totally Awesome 80's party is at the end of the month. It's hard to believe that Emma is 2. Last night I was singing Hush Little Baby to her (which is the song I've sung to her since birth) and she started singing with me. She did the same thing on Sunday. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. My baby girl is growing up. And this morning she put her shoes on all by herself. Granted they kept coming off and they only have one velcro strap, but come on... she's only 2 what do you expect. As far as me being 30, that's weird. I mean, most of my friends are 30 or older but it will be weird to say I'm 30. And that probably means I have moved up a box on surveys.
Here is a pic from our birthday last year.
*** The site won't load my picture... check back ***
No big plans tonight except dinner, but tomorrow we're going to the park if the weather is not too bad.
Happy Mardi Gras to all! This is the day where you have permission to eat as much of anything you want. Of course the idea is that you will be fasting tomorrow for Ash Wednesday and that you will be denying yourself something for the next 40+ days until Easter. Enjoy these pictures from last year!

I know I haven't done this in a long time, but it's a lot of work being a working mom, wife, etc. So off my back already.
Emma has been hearing the snow forecast and she is ready for the snow.

She has never played in the snow. She will be 2 in April but every time we had enough snow last year for her to play in, she was sick. I even bought her a snow suit last year that still has tags on it.
Pray for snow for Emma. I'm not sure her little heart can take it if it doesn't come. But don't pray for too much. If we don't have any snow days then we have no school on our birthday OR the day after. That means a four day birthday weekend. Two hour delays would be okay... we don't have to make those up.
This is the blog that I tried to post before Thanksgiving. When I get a chance I'll do a post Thanksgiving one...
Well, Emma's 1st real Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. Last year she ate turkey baby food. This year she probably won't eat Turkey but she'll eat nasty Toddler Turkey Sticks. This is of course because she refuses to eat most of the food that we try to give her. I've included a couple of pics to see how much she has grown.

Also here's a couple of pictures of Emma modeling an outfit from Aunt Tabitha. She's anxiously awaiting the elephant that Aunt Tabitha promised to bring her.

She's also excited about the new Harry Potter movie that's coming out next summer. Especially since she discovered her true heritage.

Okay, so this has nothing to do with Emma. Yesterday a bomb threat was called in to 911 concerning Floyd Central High School. You can read more about it on the Courier-Journal's website at http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061025/NEWS02/610250605/1025/NEWS02 Oddly, they are the only ones who have reported on it. It wasn't even on the news. We were evacuated yesterday afternoon. Bomb dogs were brought in and the gym was searched. We were all brought to the gym while they continued to search the rest of the building. Apparently the threat was actually for today. The school was checked again this morning. We all have to come in through the front door. More than half of our students are absent today.
What a world we live in. It's scary... and it makes me scared for Emma of what it might be like when she gets older.
Just keep us (and the World) in your prayers...
Update: The Tribune did have it as breaking news. I didn't check there website because I knew the paper hadn't come out yet. Here's the link http://www.news-tribune.net/breakingnews/local_story_297212753.html
This weekend was a busy one. Saturday we went with Uncle Steven to Huber’s for his company thing. Emma had a good time… and she was a pretty good girl. Luckily she avoided getting bit and pooped on (Daddy got bit… Mommy got pooped on twice!). For some reason Steven was obsessed with people sitting on pumpkins. Here are a few of my favorite pics.

The next day we were supposed to go to the zoo but we didn’t realize they close so early for the Halloween Party. So we went to the Community Park instead. She had a good time there too. Maybe we can do the zoo thing another time.

Then later that night we colored a picture to send in Aunt Tabitha’s goodie box. Actually, Emma colored the one for Tabitha all by herself. Okay, maybe I gave her some advice on the colors and maybe I did write her name on it, but she helped. The box is on its way Tabitha!

This weekend was a busy one. Saturday Emma experienced her first yard sale at Grandma's house (which we kicked her butt by the way... we made $45 and she only made $40). Then on Sunday we went to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. We met my friend Megan and her daughter Mia there. Mia is 2 months older than Emma. They had a good time... but they both had there moments. The things that were the biggest hit with Emma was the kitchen & coloring area in the toddler zone, the Carousel, the fireworks of glass display, and the light that was projected onto the floor. That was a big hit with both of them. They followed it around and squealled whenever it moved. I guess you had to be there. Don't judge me about the puppy harnesses. You try keeping track of a 1 1/2 year old (or try keeping them confined to a stroller). Plus... it's very stylish.
Enjoy the pics!

Okay so the votes are in and... Emma is going to be a witch. Although we were upset to find out that there is a JoJo costume at the Disney Store. Oh well, she can do that next year. Besides... she is already practicing. She's been really cranky lately and look how she carries a broom...

And you may be asking yourself what Emma was doing during the flood. Well, Daddy was at Promise Keepers (which he would highly recommend to all guys) so we hung out at the house. We watched Gilmore Girls and Emma put on some stickers. Don't ask me why, but she loves to put them on her face.

Now, I thought Kayla would get a kick out of this. My French class had a baguette left over from Friday and I took it home. I made the mistake of putting it on top of the fridge. Mistake because I am short and don't normally look on top of the fridge. Anyway... Zach got it down Monday and it was rock hard. He broke it open to see if it was hard on the inside as well. And it was. Those Frenchies make good bread but you gotta eat it fast. So of course Zach gave it to Emma (she does love her bread) and here are some pictures...

Okay, so Zach and I are faced with a difficult decision... Emma's Halloween costume. Our problem... our daughter is too cute and we can't decide on a costume. So far it went from Tinker Bell to a pumpkin to Pocahontus. Zach vetoed Pocahontus. The choices are now Pumpkin or Witch. Look at the pictures and vote. Keep in mind, if she were the pumpkin, she WOULD have pants on. Come on... It will be October... she'd be cold. If she were the witch, she'd have tights.
Choice #1: The Pumpkin

Choice #2: Witch

Okay... so Emma kept trying to take her diaper off so I thought maybe it was time to get her a potty. I was planning on just checking them out, but she went crazy for the Dora potty seat. In fact, she showed us at Toys R Us that she knew just how to use it (see Tabitha... Emma knows how to use the potty... except for the actually going part!).

So needless to say, I had to buy it.

When I took it away from her in the car so I could buckle her in she started with the water works.

So I had to let her keep it. When we got to the mall, we distracted her with JoJo so we could take the potty away. I was NOT going to have her carrying a potty around the mall. Last night I let her sit on it without a diaper. Of course she didn't do anything... but she thought she was cool stuff. She even tried to get some toliet paper. What can I say... I have a smart girl (who refuses to talk!!!)
As promised, I have pictures of the new house. I had my first class last night. I understood most everything... but it was just review. It took me practically 30 minutes to get there, get a spot, and trek up the hill to Crestview. I called Zach when it was over and he didn't realize what time it was. He put Emma in the tub and when I got home there was a squeaky clean Emma Jo waiting for me... and brownies. He read my mind because I was going to suggest we make some. We didn't have much time left to play once I got home (I had to stop and get gas and Emma has a strict 8:00 bedtime). But Emma showed me she likes her new house. She also has started walking around while holding her sippy cup in her mouth. It's weird but so is she.

Gotta go and make sure none of my students are cheating. Enjoy the new pics (and don't expect new pics everyday!)

So here is another blog from Emma's Mommy. Things have been pretty easy at school right now but that will all change soon. My class at IUS starts next week. It's basically been like 8 years since I've had an upper level math class so I'm a little scared. Things will get really hectic. My class is 2 nights a week and Zach has band one night a week. Once a month I also have my mom's group at church. I'm hoping that Emma will wait until I get home from class to go to bed. Many times she's asleep by 7:30 and my class doesn't get out until 7:15. So I will have math homework, school homework, and housework. Plus I'd like to be able to spend time with my husband, daughter, and puppy. And I do have a hobby. Luckily I only have to do 3 classes at IUS. All the rest of my classes towards my Plus 30 can be correspondence. I hope to be done at the end of the summer of 2008. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot more praying the next few semesters!
So enough about me... Emma is doing well. She's getting more teeth I guess, but they are taking FOREVER. She has started giving kisses a lot more often. She babbles like crazy and I am just waiting for her to all of a sudden start talking up a storm. She has become a Daddy's girl. She love to try and play
with Scooby. She'll try and chase him around the living room and she'll throw his ball. And then she just screams.
Update from Jim with Video :) (embedding is currently busted with YouTube, but you can still link, so here's the link)
I guess because of the teething she doesn't always have an appetite. She loves to read and loves to play with balls. She loves to play in empty diaper boxes and to play with empty water bottles. There are two problems with this. She and Scooby fight over the bottles. Most of the time Emma thinks it's funny. Scooby manages to get the caps off and then Emma puts the cap in her mouth or puts the end of the bottle in her mouth after it's been in his of course. She also likes to try and feed him his food.
Well, that's enough for now. I'll try to do this on a regular basis... just for you Tabitha. Hope you enjoy the pics!
Oh, and this morning Emma discovered she can open the oven. And when she did, she hit herself in the head and fell on the floor. I went to comfort her while Zach laughed and said "That's what you get" and "You won't do that again." And then who did she want... HIM!

Look at my wheels!
